Because Jesus was COMPASSIONATE here and the organization is not. Many facing a JC were likely quoting from this scripture and the GB does not like that. With this gone from the Bible, the younger generation will soon not even know it was once in there - and they can DF without hesitation and compassion. It is a CULT - let's not forget that!

Why remove John 8:1-11 in the NWT if these verses speak highly of Jesus
by I_love_Jeff ini understand these verses were removed in the nwt as well as some other bibles because they were added later & considered uninspired.
jesus protected an adultress so why remove it?
it fits in nicely with his teachings, does it not?

To DA myself or to go to JC meeting, that is the question
by Crazyguy ini just got done with another visit at my home with two elders and even though i tried to say very little they took anything they could as a disagreement with them as enough to say they may call a jc meeting after they talk to the rest of the elder body.
so since they are planning on dfing me any way, i'm wondering if i should just write a letter or go through with their meeting?.

Get your DA letter ready and only hand it over if you are 100% sure you will be DFed - "You can't fire me, I quit" approach. There are some excellent examples available here or at JWR.

And then ask yourself...
When was the last article the WTBTS wrote on "Cultivating the fruitage of the Spirit" or "Developing Christ-Like qualities and compassion"
Since leaving five years ago, I keep my eyes open, perhaps I have missed it, but I honestly cannot remmeber seeing any such.
I loved studying the Greatest Man book at the bookstudy back in the 80/90s - and now they have even cut Jesus' compassion out of their Bibles (eliminating John 8 were he states "he without sin cast the first stone")
Unfortunately this has gone all so gradual, that few recognize that they are in a destructive pharisee CULT, lead by mind-controlling power hungry leaders. They think they have "the truth" not realizing how far away from it, their organization really is.

If you think it is what you need, by all means go ahead. I wish you well, though I honestly doubt it will be sustainable. If you do go back, make sure to live "the truth a la carte", meaning follow YOUR conscience and what YOU want.
Some guidelines could be:
1. Do not carry a NO BLOOD card
2. Limit your FS as much as possible. Work only with the Bible. Forge your FS report to keep the elders at bay.
3. Check beforehand the material to be discussed. If you don't like it, stay home that day.
4. Do try to live as a Christian or Christ-Like and lead by example
5. Seek out those worthy and loving and make friendships with such persons - while keeping the gossipers and other unkind persons at a distance
6. Keep in mind that you have not signed up for life. If at any time it turns out to work differently, you are free to leave
7. Check in from time to time and keep us posted
Again wishing you best in life and hope it works out for you.

YOU WILL NEVER SEE THESE ACTS EVER MENTIONED IN A WATCHTOWER PUBLICATION
by steve2 infaking of hours in field service or dragging service time out by making coffee stops or driving for hours "between" household contacts are never frowned upon, let alone mentioned, in the publications.
.
yet, in each congregation of jehovah's witnesses, to one degree or another, faking hours, padding time out with coffee stops and long journeys between opportunities to "witness" are endemic practices..

Interesting article on following your conscience when counting time. When I was in I did and did not see it fitting to count the time I spent studying with my children, as I saw that as my parental duty. However, this lead to me always handing in 8-9 hours of actual FS. The elders and CO spoke with me and said they could not appoint me, as I was not hitting the 10 hours required. When they found out I did not report my family study, they told me I should do this as if I did this for six months they could appoint me. I told them my rationale for not reporting it, and was told "then we cannot appoint you".
On hindsite I am glad they didn't, otherwise it would have made my fade (soon thereafter) more difficult.

Foreign language field - the curious Watchtower cutback?
by slimboyfat inmost of the recent watchtower cutbacks can be explained as money saving exercises: closing branches, paperback books, fewer pages in the magazines, sending bethelites home and so on.. but a few different posters have reported that the watchtower society are also cutting back on the foreign field ministry.
for many years foreign language congregations have been a major source of growth for the watchtower in many lands.
so why would they choose to scale it down?.
-
Designer Stubble
My best guess is that it is control. The foreign fields often attrack those who have troubles in the regular congregation. Also generally the elders here adhere less to the B&W rules of the WTBTS. Probably some higher-up person was ticked off by this and decided to get rid of the problem.

Any proof that more JW's are leaving in greater numbers then before?
by Crazyguy inor is it just wishful thinking on our parts?.
-
Designer Stubble
No proof, but some observations on changes made to acrtificially keep numbers up:
- Allowing elderly & sick to be counted as publisher for 15 minutes each month
- Allowing BOTH parents to count four hours each month for family study
- Dropping the aux. pioneer hours to 30, plus a lot of pressure to peak during memorial month
Further observations at assemblies are that only a handful or (pre) teens are being baptized (of which 2 out of 3 leave)
Certainly not about to collapse, but the growth is gone.
